Teens for Jeans (donations due by 2/10)

Teens For Jeans is a national drive that collects used jeans to donate to teens in homeless shelters. Teens For Jeans encourages young people across the country to run a jean drive in their school to help provide clothing for youth experiencing homelessness. The I.S. 25 community is looking for your gently used jeans in all sizes to donate to local families in need.

Did you know that:

* In the United States, about 300,000 to 400,000 young people are homeless on any given day.

* Domestic violence, a lack of affordable housing, poverty, substance abuse, and mental illness are all reasons why a young person can become homeless.

* Young people experiencing homelessness are at risk to have low self-esteem, suffer from depression, and experience anxiety.

One of the most requested items that young people in homeless shelters ask for is a pair of jeans. In the past nine years, young people across the country have collected over 5 million pairs of jeans through Teens For Jeans.

Please clean out your closets of old jeans and donate them to our Teens For Jeans campaign. We will be collecting jeans from Thursday, January 19 through Friday, February 10, 2017. Students may bring the jeans to Ms. Petruskie in Room 124, or Ms. Anello in Room 126B during the collection period.
